Meet Brady Matthews. Pop artist. Stand-up comedian. Storyteller.
Whether he’s standing in front of a canvas or behind a microphone, Brady has one goal: to make people feel something.
A self-taught artist and touring comedian now based in Dallas, Brady creates bold, colorful portraits of the personalities who have shaped entertainment and popular culture.
His work is expressive, energetic, and never ordinary.
For Brady Matthews, creativity isn’t just something he does. It’s part of who he is.
Brady first picked up a paintbrush out of necessity—to stay sane, express himself, and find another way to tell his story. What began as a creative outlet became a passion he never put down.
His distinctive pop-art portraits have attracted attention from publications including Complex Magazine, the Los Angeles Times, and Shoutout DFW.
After years traveling between Los Angeles, Las Vegas, and San Diego, Brady made Dallas his home to be closer to family.
Today, he’s painting more than ever, creating original artwork and bringing his colorful interpretation of pop culture to collectors and fans.
What happens when a pop artist is also a stand-up comedian?
You get Brady Matthews.
A regular performer at the legendary Comedy Store in Los Angeles since 2007, Brady has shared his humor with audiences for nearly two decades. His name even appears on the Comedy Store’s famous wall alongside other comedy legends.
He also performed at Austin’s Comedy Mothership.
But Brady doesn’t leave his artistic talent behind when he steps onstage.
His live show, The Art of Comedy, brings both worlds together. Three performances at Gallery DeFi in Dallas. Three sold-out shows.
Onstage, he uses timing, personality, and humor to connect with an audience. On canvas, he brings that same energy to his paintings.
Two creative worlds. One unmistakable personality.
Every Brady Matthews original begins with an idea and a blank canvas.
Working with acrylic paints, Brady transforms familiar faces into bold, colorful, one-of-a-kind works of art.
His portraits have found homes in comedy venues across the country, including the Madhouse Comedy Club in San Diego and the LA Comedy Club at the Stratosphere in Las Vegas.
You may already know Brady’s artwork without even realizing it.
One of his most recognizable creations is his iconic portrait of comedy legend Chris Farley, purchased by comedian and podcaster Theo Von. For years, the painting hung prominently behind Theo during his popular podcast, becoming a familiar sight to millions of viewers.
Brady’s work has also caught the attention of comedian Adam Ray, who purchased two of Brady’s original paintings—one featuring Fozzie Bear and the other Garfield. A time-lapse video capturing Brady’s creation of the Garfield painting offers a fascinating look at his artistic process.
Beyond the comedy world, Brady has created personal portraits for Arnold Schwarzenegger. In 2023, a large mural he painted was displayed at Art Basel Miami Beach.
Whether he’s painting a comedy legend, a Hollywood icon, or a custom commission, Brady approaches every canvas with the same creative energy.
The result isn’t simply a portrait.
It’s a Brady Matthews original.
